Lord Brady of Altrincham joined MMCA members in West Malling this week to take their questions and give his account of his 27 year careers as an MP and 14 years as Chairman of the Conservative Party's 1922 Committee.
Over fish and chips, Lord Brady spoke about the relationships he built with five separate Prime Ministers during his time as Chairman, about how the party now needs to continue its mission to rebuilt and provide effective opposition to the current Labour Government, and about some of the more comic moments from his time in office.
The supper, held in West Malling's Clout Memorial Hall, not only marked the first in an anticipated series of intimate, informal suppers with leading figures from the party, but was also well attended by members of MMCA and other local Kentish Young Conservatives branches.
The event followed a recent dinner held for a number of associations in the West Kent group with Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, Robert Jenrick MP, and the party's annual conference in Manchester.
Commenting after the event, Interim Chairman David Thompson said:
"It was a real pleasure to welcome Lord Brady to West Malling this evening and to spend good, quality time with other local members. I am very much looking forward to more speakers heading down to our part of Kent over the coming months as part of our offer to members. It is a really exciting time to get involved with the party, as we regather our strength to take on the chaos of a Reform-led Kent County Council and provide effective opposition to this dangerous Labour Government."
